Title Tag
The clickable headline of your page in Google results — and one of the strongest on-page ranking signals.
The title tag is the HTML element that sets the clickable blue headline for your page in Google's results (and the label in the browser tab). It's one of the most important pieces of on-page SEO you control.
Getting it right
- Lead with the keyword — put the phrase you're targeting near the front.
- Stay under ~60 characters — longer and Google truncates it with an ellipsis.
- Write for the click — it's your headline. Make someone want to choose your result over the nine others.
- Keep it unique — every page needs its own title.
Pair it with a compelling meta description and you've controlled both lines of your Google listing.
